Dear Moderators of the Forum:

It gives me a great pleasure to be a member of such a distinguished forum and thanks for asking our opinion in search of making this forum a better one. "Change" as you know, is the only constant factor in any organization. One has to make efforts to constantly improve on things in order to meet and exceed the expectations of the readers. I am not very sure as to what the organizational goals of MM are but can assess from the name itself as to what the objective should be. Based on my own personal assessment, I would like to suggest the following:

That the articles should be bound in a thread that are pre-determined with a purpose contained therein. Based on the organizational objectives, MM should predefine those threads with an intended outcome in mind. The outcome should be disclosed to the readers in advance. At the end of the session, there will be a summary of the write-ups with all the pros and the cons discussed in the thread and the results of the outcome will have been announced. For motivational purposes, the moderators will pick the most prolific writer on the subject and post his/her writing on the website as an archived item.

The moderators of the forum should not in any way take side of the subject as they are supposed to remain neutral being the judge of the subject matter. It is often seen the moderators taking sides in the write-up and are posting serious comments on the posting. This makes the forum look biased.

There should be some modes and methods of cross checks in evaluating the merit of a particular write-up, as the individuals may wrong some writers based on their personal choices. In doing so, there should be outside members with distinguished credentials to be called on random checks on the ability of the individual moderators.

Currently, there are too many posts and multiple posts from the same writer on the same day. There should be some control over the number of issues being discussed at any given point and time and number of posts from the same individual in a given day. Most professionals would not be able to digest more than 5 postings in a day given their time constraints and reading multiple forum articles at the same time.

Issues under discussion, need to be predefined to contain some of the value less writeups that often crowds the inbox everyday. While MM is one of the better forums in terms of the quality of the writeups, there still are some writeups that do not carry any value to the obejctives of the forum. I would urge MM to rectify such insertions that somehow undermines the very spirit of the forum.

In conclusion, I wish MM the best in their endeavors in making this a better forum for all irrespective of the personal beliefs of the individuals and their orientations.

Kind regards,

Mohammed Rial Ahasn

You did a great job as a biggest secular internet news maker. please post every corner to cover up. Nari nirjaton (Women liberation) is a regular practice and fotowa in Bangladesh. We need more secular writers. Please focus on news about nari nirjaton as much as you can. In north Bengal few days ago an NGO worker has been punished for nothing by so called mullah.

What will be your new website?

I am glad you have asked those questions before it's too late. I am sure
some of the members are already getting tired of too many emails each day.
Anyway here are my suggestions--

I like all those areas you have mentioned and Mukto-mona should have
separate group on each of the major areas. As an IT Developer, I frequently
visit http://www.asp.net/Forums and it would be an excellent example how the
forum should look like. You will have 100 percent control over all the stuff
and never have to rely on yahoo. So, let's take a de-tour on the site.

Here is how Mukto-mona should look like--
------Mukto-mona.com
------------Members
------------1st Parent Forums
------------------Child Forum
------------------Child Forum
------------2nd Parent Forums
------------------Child Forum
------------------Child Forum

The users/members will receive email ONLY if he/she is involved in a
particular thread and if he/she is opted to receive email on posts.
Otherwise, all threads are stored on the site.

Wish you good Mukto-mona.

So great and refreshing a news. MM must proceed in this direction. We may not be able to contribute much money time and again, but we must grow beyond web-ADDA.

I HAVE NO ENOUGH WORDS TO THANK DR. AJOY ROY FOR THE TREMENDOUS TROUBLE AND EFFORT HE TAKES TO TRAVEL LONG DISTANCES, DO EVERYTHING AND TAKE EVERY CARE OF MM's ALL BD-VENTURES. I CAN'T IMAGINE MM WITHOUT DR. ROY.

CHEERS AND BRAVO DR. ROY, OUR EVERGREEN VIBRANT NAVIGATOR.

Dear Fatemolla

Hoping, MM will elevate itself from thousands of existing Yahoo forums who do nothing but so called 'constructive chatting'. Look at the achievements we have made this year...

- We have a working MM_Publication body and an active Advisory Board , MM is not one or two people 'personal adda group' anymore.

- MM is publishing its first book in Ekushe mela in February. Hope MM will be able to do yearly publications from now on. We have gained permissions from quite a few renowned international scientists and activists to translate their work in Bangla. Also considerable numbers of our members' articles (some of those focusing MM) has been published in reputed dailies. One can find the necessary information here:

http://www.mukto-mona.com/news/newspaper.htm

- A very worthwhile Flood project to reconstruct an elementary school in remote Kurigram area. Thanks to Dr. Ajoy Roy. Normally the world forgets about Flood stricken people after the water retreats. We will look at providing continuous help to this school next year too.

- We actively helped Dr. Humayun Azad to help him get international support against the attacks on him by fundamentalists in Bangladesh.

- Raised money for Dr. Humayun Azad memorial fund.

- Actively working to help Shariar Kabir and the people affected by Nov 11 accident.

- New MM web page will be launched on Jan 1/2005. We are trying a to build a rich archive slowly, unlike any other south Asian web pages, which will promote Science, freethinking, rationalism and human rights issues and progressive messages/literature from all over the world.

Hope all of us together can build a solid platform through MM and grow beyond chatting, personal attacks, promoting narrow agenda and come up with actions to do some real work. It looks like we do have the people and resources we need to move forward.

Dear Avijit Roy,

How are you? I am 23. I am a student of Sylhet M.C College. The books of Aroj Ali Matubbar, Ahmed Sorif, Humaun Azad ,Vobani Proshar Sahu,Taslima Nasreen helped me to think differently and be rational. Just few months ago I have visited "Mukto-mona". I have read most of the articles of "mukto-mona" web site. Now I feel proud myself as a non-religious freethinker.

But when I had gone to share my views with my friends I found that they are very harsh about the subject, more over the peoples of Sylhet are conservative. So I have found me alone situation. But I was wrong. After visiting Mukto-mona site I have found that I am not alone..a good number of free-thinkers are carrying the same view like me. Now I am more confident as a freethinker and searching my own light.

I have few requests or suggestion. They are:-
  • In the link section of "mukto-mona", Plz add the web page name like www.male101.com.
  • Plz pay more attention in spelling for Bangla articals.
  • Plz translate more English articles into Bangla.

At last, thanks for creating a wed- world of humanity and freethinking (in bangla). Good bye.

With regards
Russel
